Our Collective Stories
Sometimes we are so busy during Choice Time, that clean-up eats into our story time. Now, you'd think this is a bad thing, but it turns out that these are the perfect times for us to practice storytelling together. We take out a couple of story stones and take turns adding to our tale.
As we make choices for our story, we discuss story elements such as setting and characters, but we put most of our efforts into maintaining sequence and using cause and effect sensibly.

A princess is in her castle and she is eating breakfast. Then, she saw a superhero flying out the window. The superhero saw a bad guy on the roof. He knew it was a bad guy because he had a scary face, so he had to call the police. The police comes and the bad guy starts to cry because he sees a dragon coming and breathing fire. The princess went into the living room to watch the news and see what was happening. The bad guy realized there was only one dragon coming, so he escaped the other way. But the princess had seen the news and she decided to be a superhero. She caught the bad guy and turned him in to the police. The End |

A dog is outside playing, running in the woods. He was friends with a mama bird. A girl came out of her house and saw her dog playing with the bird. It turned to night, so they all went into the house, had their dinner and went to bed. The dog woke up in the middle of the night because the girl was up. She woke up when she heard noises outside, and when she looked out the window, she saw somebody had planted new flowers. She smiled and went outside to take a closer look. She saw a bumblebee. It almost stung her, but she run inside the house. The bumblebee was trying to get inside the house, but it didn't have the key! The key was inside the house, in the bedroom next to the beds. The dog wanted to see the new flowers and opened the door so the bee jumped in! The End |

This story happens in the stars. A man goes up to the stars; he is an astronaut and has a rocket. He is there to look at the stars. He pinched a star and it broke! Then another astronaut came over and had to fix the star with all his tools: screwdrivers of different kinds, hammer, wrench... Then the star was fixed and all was good. But then the star slapped the first astronaut! And then it turned into a rocket; the astronauts went in and they went to Florida. The End |
